## Betway Takes the Field as Primary Backer for South Africa’s Emerging Cricket Competition

International wagering powerhouse Betway has secured naming rights for South Africa’s eagerly awaited new T20 cricket league, scheduled to commence in January 2023.

This sponsorship agreement further cements Betway’s robust ties to the game. They already hold collaborations with Cricket South Africa and Cricket West Indies, and their hub, Betway Insider, showcases frequent insights from cricketing icon Kevin Pietersen, serving as a brand representative. Betway views this league, poised to be among the largest outside India, as a prime chance to motivate a fresh wave of cricketers and enthusiasts.

The championship, comprising 33 matches, will unfold across six prominent South African cities – Pretoria, Johannesburg, Durban, Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth), Cape Town, and Paarl – beginning January 10, 2023.

“We are immensely pleased to be revealed as the title sponsor of the debut SA20,” stated Betway CEO Anthony Werkman. “Our objective is to be an industry frontrunner in online cricket wagering, and this alliance enables us to advance that aspiration.” Werkman continued, “With global attention on this remarkable tournament, and the anticipation mounting for the first delivery, we are delighted to see the Betway brand prominently displayed, showcasing our enduring dedication to this extraordinary sport.”

A half-dozen squads—the Durban Super Giants, Johannesburg Super Kings, MI Cape Town, Paarl Royals, Pretoria Capitals, and Sunrisers Eastern Cape—will compete for the title.

“This represents a major leap for us,” remarked Graeme Smith, the Betway SA20 League Commissioner, regarding the collaboration. “We are delighted to have Betway become a part of our expanding group of committed partners.”

“They are an international company with a love for cricket worldwide, and we anticipate tapping into new markets and viewers for the Betway SA20 on a global scale.”
