Marylands gaming venues generated a substantial $143.8 million during September 2018, reflecting a 6.9% increase from the corresponding period the year before. This remarkable financial performance represents the state’s fourth-largest monthly sum.
MGM National Harbor, the state’s most profitable gaming destination, maintained its dominance, amassing a staggering $54.4 million. Concurrently, Ocean City Casino witnessed a notable 13.9% revenue surge, attaining $7.5 million.
Nevertheless, not all establishments shared in the prosperity. Rocky Gap Casino Resort and Horseshoe Casino Baltimore encountered minor revenue declines, registering $4.6 million and $20.6 million, respectively.
A significant portion of the overall revenue generated, approximately $59.5 million, was directed towards state finances. This encompasses a considerable $44.6 million allocated to the Education Trust Fund. The remaining funds were channeled towards supporting local areas where the casinos are located and reinforcing Marylands horse racing sector.
Presently, Maryland is home to six privately held casinos, each providing a wide array of gaming choices, spanning from slot machines to classic table games.
