Anne Ward has been appointed to the board of directors at Crown Resorts. This comes after a time of considerable turmoil for the organization following its deemed unsuitability to retain a casino license in New South Wales. Her addition makes her the second woman on the board, joining Jane Halton, who weathered the mass departure from the company in the aftermath of the Bergin Report.

Ward possesses extensive experience that she brings to Crown, having served on boards across various industries, including finance, technology, healthcare, and education. She currently chairs Redbubble and MNF Group, both listed on the Australian Securities Exchange.

“Crown has been woven into the tapestry of Melbourne for numerous years, and I am thrilled to be joining the board as we set our sights on the future,” Ms. Ward remarked.

The Australian gaming giant, Crown Resorts, recently received an updated acquisition proposal from the American private equity firm, Blackstone. Rumors suggest they are offering $13.10 Australian dollars per share – equivalent to approximately $9.55 USD – to acquire the entire company.

This development has undoubtedly kept Crown CEO, Jane Halton, and the board of directors occupied as they carefully evaluate their choices.

Further intensifying the situation, New South Wales is reportedly reforming its gambling regulations. The state intends to establish a separate and autonomous casino regulatory body, potentially leading to significant transformations for Crown.
